SUNNYVALE, Calif, and HANNOVER, Germany, Sept. 4, 2023 — Google Cloud and Continental, two giants in their respective fields, announced a strategic partnership aimed at accelerating automotive innovation. This alliance aims to blend Google’s unparalleled capabilities in data and AI technologies with Continental’s industry-leading expertise in automotive solutions.

A Partnership for the Future

“This collaboration will help our customers to reduce costs, improve efficiency, flexibility, and increase value for all,” said Philipp von Hirschheydt, Continental Executive Board member and head of the Automotive group sector.

By integrating Google Cloud’s Conversational AI technologies into Continental’s Smart Cockpit High-Performance Computer (HPC) running on Android Automotive OS (AAOS), the companies plan to redefine how we interact with our cars.

Unveiling Key Benefits

  • Accelerated Innovation: This strategic collaboration promises to deliver new automotive solutions that are not only safer but also more efficient.
  • Reduced Costs: “This partnership will help automotive Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) to lower costs by reducing complexity and development times and bringing new products to market faster,” emphasized Philipp von Hirschheydt.
  • Enhanced User Experience: The in-car experience will dramatically improve, making it easier and faster for automotive companies to leverage AI to create new passenger experiences in cars,” said Behshad Behzadi, VP Engineering Google Cloud GenAI.

Tech Giants Uniting

Continental, a pioneer in automotive technologies since 1871, is joining forces with Google Cloud, a leader in AI and cloud computing. Together, they aim to bring a new generation of connected automotive solutions that are not just convenient but also promise more safety and a better travel experience for passengers.

“We are excited to partner with Continental,” said Daniel Holz, VP EMEA North at Google Cloud. “This partnership will enable us to bring our expertise in software, AI, and cloud computing to the automotive industry.”
